week 3: DRIppINg LEggINg

Eva Hesse

I looked at tensions, creating a point on the garment of intensity, straining its balance . The force pulling down was equally matched by the force pulling up. After my initial research I felt a need to push this idea materially further. I looked outside the realm of traditional padding applications - creating pockets and then filling them with a liquid that foamed and set as a pliable material. The stretch knit that i used was relatively porous and i knew there would be some leaking, but was unsure to what extent. Because much of what i was doing was quite experimental, several technicalities have yet to be refined within the garment.

  1. Hi Blake,
Comment here about how you have tried to 'deformed' the legging, whilst it is obvious, I am interested to see how you relate it to your methods of:
'I looked at tensions, creating a point on the garment of intensity, straining its balance . The force pulling down was equally matched by the force pulling up'

    did this create your process?
Continue to reflect on what you are trying to achieve with these methods, how do they affect the generic?
